A leading transport consultancy in Southampton is seeking a Senior Transport Planner with expertise in development planning to join their growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of development projects, providing transport and highways advice to private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for development projects.
2. Provide expert advice on highway design, junction capacity assessments, and sustainable transport solutions.
3. Conduct feasibility studies and support planning applications through the transport planning process.
4. Liaise with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
5. Use transport modelling software (Junctions 10, LinSig, TRICS, TEMPro, etc.) to assess development impacts.
6. Lead and manage projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality outputs.
7. Mentor and support junior team members, fostering professional growth.
8. Keep up to date with relevant planning policies, guidance, and industry trends.
Requirements:
1. Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.
2. Strong experience in development-related transport planning, particularly for private sector clients.
3. Proficiency in transport modelling and software tools such as Junctions 10 (PICADY/ARCADY), LinSig, and TRICS.
4. Excellent understanding of UK planning policies, highways guidance (e.g., NPPF, DMRB, Manual for Streets), and local authority requirements.
5. Experience engaging with local authorities, developers, and planning consultants.
6. Strong report writing and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
8. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
