Description
Merits Plastic Mouldings are technical experts in the design and manufacture of plastic injection mouldings. They are currently looking for an apprentice Maintenance Technician to join and work within their team.
Key Tasks:
1. Carry out planned service and calibration on all moulding machines and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations or pre-determined plans.
2. Attend the technical college as predefined by the company to undertake the technical qualifications to achieve engineer status.
3. Carry out essential remedial maintenance as required.
4. Keep accurate, up to date service, maintenance, and calibration records for all equipment.
5. Report to the Plant Engineer any adverse trends in equipment condition.
6. Ensure that maintenance is carried out in the most cost-effective manner.
7. Attempt always to carry out the above within the issued company budgeted levels seeking prior approval of any necessary overspend.
8. Work strictly in accordance with the tool setting Work Instruction, number WI.25.
Other Tasks:
1. Adhere to relevant procedures as laid down in the company quality manual.
2. Maintain good housekeeping in whichever duty you are performing.
3. Actively participate in training and development programmes as required by your line manager.
4. Regularly communicate with your line manager to ensure the smooth running of the department.
5. Work in compliance with all H&SE statutory rules and regulations.
6. Use all equipment, plant, machinery, and services with respect and immediately report any faults or repairs needed to the relevant person for action.
7. Maintain awareness of developments within areas of operation of other departments within the Company.
8. Maintain active interdepartmental co-ordination, communication and co-operation.
9. Undertake other tasks as required by the Company or your line manager.
10. Maintain an optimum level of spares for plant and machinery.
Entry requirements
GCSE grades 5-9 in Maths and English - Essential.
Training to be provided
1. The learner will be studying the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification.
2. Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held.
