A great opportunity for a highly experienced Science teacher to work within a special school in Westbury, working with students in Key Stage 3 and 4. This unique school was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. The headteacher is looking for an experienced Teacher with the ability to teach Science but with the flexibility to also teach another subject. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and committed professional to join a group of compassionate professionals who provide high quality education to all pupils.
The headteacher is looking for a kind, approachable individual, who can show excellent organisational skills, be assertive. It is desirable that you have a QTS or PGCE or QTLS, but consideration will be given to education professionals with other teaching qualifications. It is desirable that you have experience of working with Special educational needs, specifically social and emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The school believes having fun is essential to enable a child to learn and to support students to have access to a variety of opportunities, including regular educational school trips and recreational offsite activities. They aim to restore the students self-confidence, self-esteem, self-control and self-motivation through a flexible, personalised, needs-led programme with unconditional care, nurture and support. The school uses a holistic approach to education with a focus on emotional and social development.
Your role will involve delivering lessons plans that have been planned by yourself alongside the head teacher. You must have knowledge of basic Science, and have experience teaching all three sciences (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) to a secondary level. Feedback to teachers and senior members of staff, including the head teacher regularly, to ensure the students are achieving and showing progression within their studies and themselves. You must be effectively monitoring the progress of each pupil, checking their understanding systematically and effectively, putting in place clearly directed and timely interventions
This is a temporary role, that will run until the end of the academic year. You will be working Monday to Friday, within term time, between the hours of 8:30 am -3:30 pm. If you demonstrate to be an excellent addition to the team, there will be an opportunity to progress to a permanent position within the school.
