Responsible for monitoring the provision of decontamination services trust wide, including the contract held with the external decontamination provider (Synergy) to ensure the Trust remains technically compliant. In conjunction with the Lead Nurse for IPC and the Theatre Manager be responsible for the implementation of an operational policy for decontamination ensuring the highest standards and for monitoring the implementation of said policy.
Main duties of the job
The Decontamination Lead will ensure compliance with national guidance and standards and will also facilitate continual improvement in the management of medical devices and decontamination processes by liaising with various partners internally and externally to the Trust. Provide highly specialist advice and/or training to own and other professions.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to relevant Degree level or equivalent NVQ 3 in Decontamination
* Equivalent demonstrable experience in Decontamination processes, practical and legislation
* ECDL or equivalent
Knowledge
* An understanding of national policy and current issues related to decontamination including NICE 196 interventional guidance and CfPP 01-01
* Experience of managing change
* Project management skills and proven track record of delivery
* Experience of working with clinical teams
* Understanding of cost effective management of resources
* Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in Sterile Services or related field
* Experience with procurement processes
Skills
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to negotiate and communicate effectively
* Ability to write concise and accurate reports
* Ability to plan own time
