SEND Support Worker
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEND Support Worker to join our team at a specialist SEND provision in Barrow-in-Furness. This role offers the opportunity to work with primary-aged children with SEND, creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one and small group support, helping students engage with their learning and make progress.
2. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver tailored support for each student.
3. Promote the development of social skills, independence, and self-confidence.
4. Support students with emotional and behavioural needs, using patience and compassion.
5. Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment that meets each child’s unique needs.
Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience: Previous experience working with SEND children, either in a school or care setting, is preferred. Classroom experience is beneficial.
2. Background: A background in care work or a relevant qualification (such as a Teaching Assistant qualification or degree) is ideal but not essential if you have strong experience.
3. Personal Qualities: Patient, caring, and proactive, with a commitment to supporting children’s development.
4. Team Player: Able to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, showing flexibility and adaptability.
Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Part-time applications are also welcome.
Safeguarding: Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
Pay: All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
