Role Overview
As a Learning Support Mentor, you will work closely with Lecturing staff, Assessors, and the Team Leader in Construction to help students succeed in their programmes of study. You will provide tailored support to ensure learners with additional needs can access the curriculum, develop greater independence, and achieve personalised outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborative Support: Work in collaboration with teaching staff across various learning environments, providing support both in and outside of the classroom. This includes assisting with reading materials, note-taking, word processing, and using enabling technologies.
* Student Empowerment: Support students in achieving personalised learning outcomes, including those within Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP).
* Resource Adaptation: Modify and adapt classroom resources (e.g., enlarging text, simplifying language) to meet individual learning needs.
* Promote Independence: Empower students to make progress towards their goals, fostering independence and self-confidence in their learning journey.
* Holistic Support: Provide assistance outside the classroom, including during breaks, lunch, on trips, and during off-campus study programmes as needed.
* Record Maintenance: Keep accurate records of student attendance, target-setting, and progress on Pro-monitor, ensuring that support guidelines are met.
You will have:
* Experience working with young people with learning difficulties or disabilities in an educational setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for promoting inclusion and supporting diverse learners.
* Ability to adapt learning materials and provide differentiated support to meet varied learning needs.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
* Be a team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and collaboration.
* GCSE or equivalent qualifications at grade C or above in English and maths.
