The role
As Head of Finance, you’ll be a key member of the Defence Training and Marine Training Senior Management Team, supporting the Training Finance Director in providing financial leadership to the Defence Training and Marine Training business.
Day-to-day, you’ll liaise with the Finance Business Services, Operations, and Senior Management teams, lead and ensure accounts, budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans are accurate, manage the production of monthly management accounts, and oversee customer-facing balance sheet control account reconciliations and rectification actions required to resolve issues.
* Support identified continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Finance function.
* Identify opportunities to improve the service.
* Provide underlying finance and wider business support to the Defence Training and Marine Training senior management teams.
* Manage the production of monthly management accounts including site commentaries.
* Provide support to the monthly reviews of new business/projects/pricing and tracking.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week, and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home. Travel between sites is required.
Essential experience of the Head of Finance:
* Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
* Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
* Comfortable and confident presenting at board level.
* Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with senior non-finance personnel.
* Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and Outlook.
* Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS, etc.)
Qualifications for the Head of Finance:
* Fully Qualified with a professional finance qualification.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
