London - Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office
What you'll be doing:
* Reporting into the Head of Model Delivery, you will manage, and make recommendations to improve, the support and maintenance of the actuarial modelling systems including aspects of development and process including data procurement, modelling, reporting and production. This includes development of Psicle for reserving, IFRS17 and Solvency II and Tyche for our internal capital model.
* Improve the quality of MI and manage competing MI / data requests.
* Deliver specific tasks and projects in a dedicated, and accurate manner, providing insights, impacts and recommendations.
* Lead with the development of the modelling systems and support the Head of Model Delivery to deliver modelling benefits for Reserving and Capital Modelling.
* Develop reports using visualisation tools such as Tableau.
* Provide analytical support and insight to inform decisions and strategy, with a responsibility for ensuring robustness of output.
* Identify opportunities for improvements to allow tasks to be performed. Challenge current processes with suggestions as to how these can be refined.
* Suggest recommendations to improve DLG's Reserving and Capital Modelling capability.
* Monitor the effectiveness of models on an ongoing basis to ensure they are fit for purpose and suggest areas of development.
* Have a knowledge of reserving and capital modelling processes; develop your business, market knowledge and awareness of relevant industry issues which impact your area & incorporate in the work that you do.
* Ensure adoption of best practice regarding data procurement, version control, governance and maintenance.
What we're looking for:
* Relevant work experience within an analytical role.
* Strong experience in general insurance and actuarial modelling, with a working knowledge of actuarial practices.
* Experience with data quality principles.
* Experience using analytical tools and techniques in a work environment.
* Working knowledge and experience in the use of SAS, R or Python (coding and writing data manipulation) are required and knowledge of SQL would be advantageous.
* Experience of visualisation tools such as Tableau.
* Process orchestration, workflow and ETL tools.
* Passionate about modelling development, Data science, machine learning techniques.
