Job Description
As Chef Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Overseeing all aspects of the kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation
* Leading and developing a team of six, ensuring smooth kitchen operations
* Designing seasonal menus using fresh, locally sourced ingredients
* Managing stock control, ordering, and food costs to maintain profitability
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety and food hygiene regulations
* Building strong relationships with school staff and pupils to enhance the dining experience
Qualifications
* Professional culinary qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery, City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2, or equivalent)
* Food Safety & Hygiene Level 3 (or higher) certification
* Health & Safety certification (e.g., HACCP, COSHH, Allergen Awareness)
* Experience as a Chef Manager, Head Chef, or Senior Sous Chef in an education, contract catering, or high-volume setting
* Strong knowledge of menu planning, stock control, and cost management
* Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a kitchen team
* Excellent understanding of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
* Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and high-quality food production
* Strong financial awareness, including GP management and budget control
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
* First Aid at Work certification (desirable)
