About the role
Working collaboratively with peers and senior leaders from across the business, this challenging role will help deliver against business plans, highlighting commercial challenges and opportunities, with proactive reactions to volatility tracking benefits against business cases and holding each business owner to account.
Working in a fast-paced environment you will partner all stakeholders involved in our transformation programme to ensure performance is monitored in line with agreed forecasts.
Key Responsibilities -
* Business partner all stakeholders involved in our transformation programme, and the eCom team to commercially challenge each area to deliver against their strategy
* Assisting in ensuring that all the desired outcomes of project and its constituent work streams are identified and are accurately completely and unambiguously specified. This includes the benchmarking and measurement of efficiency savings.
* Create a process to review unprofitable ecom activity, i.e promos, low basket values, low margin lines ensuring decision making understood across business.
* Link in with DC operations to understand optimum fulfilment model for each product type and costs associated with Ecom
* Partner with all stakeholders to build robust business cases ensuring all financial aspects are considered, capex and opex, along with all other relevant KPIs giving a relevant balanced scorecard to measure performance against.
* Work closely with the finance team to ensure all impacts of each project are forecast in latest views, budgets and forward planning including both capex and opex.
* Responsible for benefit realization tracking and reporting, working closely with stakeholders and finance colleagues to ensure that planned benefits crystallise into commercial and operational delivery.
* Effective consideration of cross programme financial dependencies within and between projects and between projects and business as usual performance and operation.
* Effective management of Transformation programme financial risks and opportunities providing timely effective transparency to Steering Boards and stakeholders enabling effective interventions.
* Working with stakeholders to consider and implement optimal project financial planning and control including 3rd party commercial agreements and financing models, performance, benefit share, penalties as appropriate.
* Production and presentation of the monthly Finance Update Slide as a role on project steerco’s.
* Drive forecasting rigour and timescales across all areas to feed into the overall business planning requirements aligning KPIs end to end across the business.
* Stay abreast of outside factors that influence the business and ensure this knowledge and insight is shared across the business..
* Create an atmosphere and culture of high support and high challenge across those teams and within our own team.
* To work with non financial stakeholders to enhance commercial awareness, challenge and improve processes and efficiency, in order to improve cost effectiveness.
About You
* Fully CIMA qualified
* Proven experience in a finance team, preferably in Commercial Finance
* Ability to build strong relationships across the business
* A strong analytical approach
* Strength of character to support and influence senior decision makers
* Used to adapting and dealing with change
* A passion and desire to complete tasks to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and listening skills
* High numerate skills and strong financial acumen
* A positive and proactive attitude to work
* Ability to confidently challenge senior management whilst maintaining a strong professional manner
* Commercially focussed and self motivated
* Ability to work calmly under pressure
* Desired: experience in an online business but not essential
