Assistant Gardener required

There are a variety of gardens, both within the estate, but also a wider group of properties.
Job Description:
As an Assistant Gardener, you’ll work as part of a small, skilled team. Under the guidance of the Head Gardener, you will be responsible for maintaining the estate’s varied and diverse gardens.
The estate comprises several unique properties, each with its own distinctive character and landscaping style, ranging from a historic Arts and Crafts manor house to mature Lakeland gardens, new and developing gardens, wildlife areas, woodlands, and greenhouses.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborating with the team to ensure the gardens are always well presented.
2. Maintaining garden beds and borders by planting, weeding, pruning, and mulching.
3. Planting and pruning shrubs and trees.
4. Lawn mowing and strimming.
5. Maintaining driveways, paved patios, and gravel areas.
6. Operating gardening tools, machinery, and equipment effectively and safely.
7. Assisting with garden landscaping projects.
Requirements:
1. A valid driving licence (essential), as you’ll need to travel between properties on the estate.
2. Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
3. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
4. Previous gardening or landscaping experience is preferred but not essential.
5. A passion for working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Position Details:
Full-time: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Hourly rate: £13 per hour.
31 days of paid holiday leave annually.
All tools, equipment, PPE and vehicles to travel around the estate are provided.
