This role is based on site 5 days a week in our Canterbury office; hybrid working may be considered.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Strategic Leadership: Drive the financial strategy and management of the company, ensuring efficient and timely processing of all financial duties.
2. Financial Oversight: Prepare and process payroll, manage salary payments and pensions, handle accounts payable and receivable, maintain ledgers, and more.
3. Strategic Support: Provide top-notch financial advice, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to our governing and executive bodies.
4. Project Support: Assist project leaders with pricing services and engaging with public sector bodies.
5. Sustainable Growth: Develop strategies for social investment and maximize financial opportunities.
6. Policy Development: Improve financial policies and procedures to maximize social impact and ensure strong financial controls.
7. Procurement: Oversee ethical procurement policies and empower the workforce with controlled delegated budgets.
8. Team Building: Line-manage the Finance Lead and build a strong finance team as we grow.
9. Financial Management: Manage cash flow, profitability, core accounting functions, and statutory accounts preparation.
10. Compliance: Stay on top of legal and regulatory developments, optimizing government provisions for our benefit.
About You:
1. Proven track record as a strategic financial leader and management accountant in a private or third sector SME.
2. Qualified to ACA or ACCA, or equivalent experience.
3. Strong bookkeeping and core accounting skills, including statutory accounts preparation.
4. Experience in financial leadership within the charity, not-for-profit, social care, education, or health sectors.
5. Passion for social change and commitment to our vision and values.
6. Ability to manage competing priorities and work well under pressure.
7. Team player with a knack for spotting what needs to be done and doing it.
8. Flexible, reliable, and self-motivated.
9. Commitment to equality and co-produced work that values all people.
10. Receptive to feedback and eager to learn and improve.
11. Tech-savvy, especially with internet and cloud-based accounting software like Xero, Syft, and Google Sheets.
12. Strong mentoring and leadership skills.
13. Excellent communication skills with a natural feel for clear, plain wording.
14. Discreet, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
