This is a safety critical role so you will need to get clearance from our Occupational Health team before you start.
Overview of project/role
London Trams (LT) is the business unit within London Rail responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of LT network. The LT network currently extends to 28km of rail with 35 trams and an annual ridership of some 27m and annual revenue of in excess of £20m.
Responsible for the collection, collation and dissemination of asset condition data to demonstrate that the OHLE and power asset condition is compliant with the designated standards, and to plan for the remedial actions required to retain or return to a compliant state.
The role also acts as an interface between the OHLE and Power Maintenance teams and the Technical Services team on all OHLE and power related matters.
Key Accountabilities
* Project manage small internal projects and contract work to ensure that the OHLE and power assets are maintained to the required standard.
* Plan and organise trials of new plant, equipment and PPE and produce associated performance reports to allow the business to use new technologies and seek innovation.
* Undertake inspections in order to identify problems and develop solutions in a logical and practical manner.
* Ensure compliance with H&S regulations by conducting briefings, creating and reviewing work instructions, work place risk assessments and method statements.
* Provide an interface with the Power Engineer to ensure that all infrastructure investigations are conducted to the required standard and that outputs from the investigations are understood and implemented.
* Input to the capital works plan to ensure that all relevant assets are planned to be refurbished or replaced prior to the end of their safe and economical life cycle. Specify replacement assets to meet system requirements and whole life cycle cost.
* Manage and carry out the collection, collation and dissemination of asset condition data to demonstrate that the asset condition is compliant with the designated standards, and to plan for the remedial actions required to retain or return to a compliant state.
* Analysis of power & OLE data collection and production output.
* Undertake 1st line on-call duties where required depending on business needs.
* The role requires the use of a company vehicle and a full clean driving license to be maintained. Core duties will involve working in all weather conditions on a mixture of day and night shifts to meet business needs.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills

Knowledge
* Knowledge of the ROGS regulations and their application to the tramway (Desirable).
* Knowledge of safe working and the HASAWA (Desirable).
* Knowledge of the principles of tramway/railway safety (Desirable). National Certificate in Engineering or similar (Essential).
* HNC or higher in Electrical or Railway Engineering (Desirable).
* Knowledge of OHLE and power plant, tools and equipment, construction, inspection, and maintenance techniques (Essential).
* Understanding of OHLE and power systems design (Desirable).
* Basic project management techniques (Desirable).
Experience
* Specification of works, upgrades and renewals.
* Experienced in the maintenance of records and maintenance of an audit trail. Use of Microsoft Office standard packages.
* Use of SAP or similar systems is desirable.
* Use of electronic asset management and collaborative working systems is desirable. Proven experience of working in the power or OHL environment.
* Experience of undertaking inspections and surveys - Demonstrable experience in a similar role to include OLEC 1 and 2.
