A Major developer is looking to take on an Assistant Quantity Surveyor based in their office 4/5 days a week.
The developer is a leading Housebuilder in the Kent and South Eastern Region, averaging between (Apply online only) units per development. As a business they have been a leading housebuilder since 1974 and have since gone on to achieve a financial turnover of circa £2.16 billion, delivering up to 22,000 homes a year.
In 2024, they were awarded a 5 star home builder customer satisfaction award for the quality of their work.
Since their award, they are now in a position where they need to bolster their commercial team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, who would be promoted to a Quantity Surveyor within the next year or so.
The ideal candidate will have:
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for residential construction projects.
* Support with procurement activities, including preparing tender documentation, obtaining quotes, and liaising with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and assess work completed.
* Assist in the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts.
* Maintain accurate records of costs, variations, and project documentation.
* Monitor and report on project costs, including the identification and mitigation of cost overruns.
* Collaborate with project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
* Support in resolving any contractual or financial disputes.
* Assist in preparing reports and presentations for clients and senior management.
* Keep up to date with industry regulations, construction methods, and trends.
Skills & Qualifications:
* A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related field (or in progress).
* Some experience or internship in a construction-related role, preferably with a house builder or residential development company.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and experience using Coins, payment valuation software and others (e.g., Procore, Buildsoft) is a plus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work well in a team and independently.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
