We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Clinical Pharmacy team at our Worthing site. We are actively seeking a reliable and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to work as a part of the Pharmacy Clinical Team based at Worthing Hospital. You will have to demonstrate self-confidence, have a reliable work history and have the ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
The Pharmacy Department provides a service to a wide range of patients with diverse needs across a range of specialities. We operate a comprehensive ward based, patient facing clinical service backed by innovative technology. You will become a valued member of the team providing this essential service and in return you will receive full training and support to facilitate your career development.
The post is full time ( hours per week with weekend and bank holiday working as per rota). This role will require you to be based at Worthing Hospital.
The successful post holder must be:
o Self-motivated
o Competent in Microsoft applications
o Have excellent communication skills
Main duties of the job
To assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and effective pharmaceutical service, with particular emphasis in ordering and dispensing of in-patient and discharge prescriptions, at ward level, in line with departmental procedures.
To analyse patient's own medication and confirm suitability for use prior to discharge; to facilitate a safe and efficient transition from hospital to home.
To improve patient access to their own medicines by providing assistance and support to the receipt, storage and transfer of medicines between clinical areas.
Assist in reduction of waste through utilising patients own medication and following medicine returns policies and guidelines.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will work as part of the clinical pharmacy team, ensuring timely dispensing of medications for patients. This entails ensuring safe and secure transfer of medication to wards within the hospital, and assessing patients own medication for safe use.
The successful candidate will also need to develop key working relationships with staff including doctors, nurses and clerical officers, the general clinical pharmacy team and all staff within the pharmacy department and stock distribution team.
