The Role:
We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance/Handyperson to manage general repairs and maintenance tasks throughout our care home. This role requires a proactive individual who can carry out various maintenance duties, address repair issues as they arise, and conduct regular safety checks to ensure that our home remains a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct general maintenance tasks and repairs across the premises, including basic plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry, ensuring all areas remain safe and functional.
* Perform regular inspections of facilities, identifying any areas in need of repair or improvement.
* Carry out routine health and safety checks (e.g., fire alarm tests, emergency lighting inspections) and record findings accurately.
* Manage and oversee external contractors for specialized repairs or major projects, ensuring work meets standards and minimal disruption to residents.
* Assist with room set-ups and adjustments as required, including moving furniture and handling light redecorating work.
* Maintain records of repairs and maintenance tasks, adhering to regulatory standards and internal protocols.
* Monitor and maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring tools are available and well-kept.
* Respond promptly to any urgent repair needs or maintenance issues that arise, keeping downtime to a minimum.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times, creating a secure environment for both residents and staff.
What We’re Looking For:
* Previous experience in a similar maintenance or handyman role, ideally within a care home, hospitality, or similar setting.
* Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and proactively.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring a safe, well-maintained environment.
* Familiarity with health and safety regulations, especially within residential settings.
* Strong communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude when interacting with residents and staff.
* Flexibility and the ability to respond to urgent repair needs when required.
