Hays are delighted to be working with Birmingham City Council to recruit for a Project Officer on a temporary basis. This role sits within the Children’s and Families Directorate, reporting into a Programme Manager. This role will have a focus on project planning and financial management, supporting the programme manager in various tasks, ensuring the project is delivered successfully.
This role is paying up to £23 p/h, with a hybrid working model in place for the successful candidate.
The key responsibilities of this role are:
1. Project Planning: Assisting in the development of project strategies, creating detailed project plans, and coordinating schedules with team members.
2. Financial Management: Overseeing project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring financial compliance with external funding requirements.
3. Research and Documentation: Conducting research on resource requirements, drafting project proposals, and maintaining project documentation.
4. Monitoring and Reporting: Tracking project progress, compiling data, and generating reports for stakeholders.
5. Administrative Support: Handling administrative tasks such as taking meeting notes, uploading documents, and coordinating communication amongst team members.
In order to be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Transferable Skills: Experience in similar project management roles, demonstrating the ability to adapt skills to different projects and industries.
2. Project Management Knowledge: Understanding of project management cycles and methodologies.
3. Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, financial tracking, and compliance with funding requirements.
4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and stakeholders.
5. Organisational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and manage time efficiently.
6. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with specific programs like ESF, UKSPF, and DWP national programmes such as Restart.
