Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Tissue Viability Team at Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust. This would be an ideal opportunity for the successful candidate to extend on existing skills and develop further skills and knowledge within the tissue viability discipline.
The role entails dealing with patients who have pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and other complex wound care needs. The post holder would also be expected to undertake triage duties. The potential post holder needs to have experience in leg ulcer and pressure ulcer management and existing wound care skills as well as being able to undertake educational programmes to patients and clinicians.
The potential post holder needs to be a committed and confident individual who is conscientious, dynamic and pro-active and has excellent communication and organisational skills.

To provide specialist nursing care, intervention and education through a variety of different approaches, to staff and patients with tissue viability needs within Shropshire County, across any care setting.

Person specification
Training and Qualifications
* NMC Registered General Nurse
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by diploma level specialist training, experience, and short course
* Speciality Level 6 qualification (Tissue Viability Theory/Leg Ulcer Management/Pressure Ulcer Module)
* Willingness to undertake Debridement, and Independent Nurse Prescribing Course (or already has)
* Evidence of continual professional development and education relating to specialty
Experience
* Demonstrated experience with tissue viability issues, in relation to patients with wounds.
* Experience of managing a caseload
* Experience of delivering education to staff, patients and carers
* Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary/multi-agency health/social care environment
* Demonstrated knowledge within tissue viability.
Knowledge and Skills
* Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills within tissue viability.
* Ability to verbally communicate information/techniques that are easily understood and acted upon through training programmes and staff education
* Ability to manage own day to day workload and meet goals and deadlines
* Ability to deputise in the absence of the clinical lead.
* Ability to initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient.
* Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues and can participate in Safeguarding investigations.
* Ability to develop own clinical skills and willingness to participate in continuing professional development.
