Description The Service & Team: The role is in the Culture Team which covers cultural strategy and projects and also includes the Archive Service and Cornish Language Office. The Culture Team is part of Culture, Leisure and Libraries within Community Services. The Role: Key responsibilities of the role are: To provide professional advice and support to museums in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly relating to proper management of historic collections and organisational resilience. To ensure all relevant contracts associated with the delivery of Museum Development activity are effectively managed in liaison with the Principal Lead for Culture. Work with the Museums SW team of thematic and Museum Development Officers to collect, analyse and share comprehensive activity reporting for Arts Council England, local authority partners and wider dissemination. To support the delivery of the cultural strategy for Cornwall including communication with the wider culture sector and partners. This is a public-facing role, where you will need to present to museums and stakeholders, and the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: 37 hours per week - but flexible working options or reduced hours may be available provided the main functions of the role can be delivered. What you’ll need. to succeed: The successful applicant will have experience, expertise and knowledge of working in the museum sector and a good understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing museums. We are seeking someone who can lead museums in innovating, generating income and developing audiences. The successful applicant will also have experience of managing projects and of advising museums, heritage organisations and community groups.
