Deliver a high standard of nursing care without direct supervision, based upon a sound evidence base. Undertake and documents a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the physical social and spiritual needs of the patients where appropriate. Creates and utilizes opportunities to promote health and well-being of patients in their care. Influence and monitor the standards of direct patient care delivery in accordance with best practice and operational protocols and guidelines. Leads a nursing team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift. Promote good working relationships within the nursing teams providing appropriate advice and support. Facilitate the development of standards of care and assist with the implementation of appropriate monitoring techniques. Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff below a Band 6. Planning the appropriate skill mix and staffing levels using competent duty rostering skills. Deputise for the Paediatric Ward Manager in his/her absence. As part of the Directorate Team assist with the development and implementation of the Trusts Business Plan and Strategy for Nursing. Assist with the management of ward resources in an efficient and effective manner. Support the Paediatric Ward Manager in the investigation of complaints within the ward area.
