This is an exciting opportunity to come and work for the MFT CAMHS directorate as a CAMHS Inpatient Advanced Occupational Therapist (Clinical Lead) within Galaxy House.
The Advanced OT will be the clinical lead for a highly specialised occupational therapy service for patients within a specialist field. They will function as an autonomous practitioner with an advanced level of knowledge, skills and experience, to assess, diagnose and treat complex patients of their own case load of inpatients and/or outpatients/community patients in individual and group settings. The post holder will manage and provide clinical leadership for specialist qualified occupational therapists and assistants, and will supervise students. They will plan, deliver and evaluate Continual Professional Development, clinical audit, research activities and in-service training within specialist area.
Main duties of the job
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work, working to agreed national and professional standards.
To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies using diagnostic and analytical skills in order to identify their problems and needs and ensure that patient's medical, psychological, social environmental and cultural factors are taken into account using advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques: Identify the problem/diagnose.
* Formulate individualised management and treatment plans in negotiation with the patient to devise and deliver a specialised evidence-based programme of care utilising a range of treatment options.
* Relate findings to presenting pathology.
To be a source of clinical expertise within the team, trust wide and provide advice to other organisations as required.
To give comprehensive information to seek patients understanding, cooperation, compliance and consent.
To use a diverse range of communication strategies to ensure effective communication with patients who may have difficulties e.g. cognitive impairment, mental health problems, autism, severe acute illness, high levels of resistance that may create a barrier to communication.

Qualifications
Essential
* Recognised BSC Honours degree in occupational therapy or equivalent.
* State registration via Health and Care Professions Council.
* Clinical Educators Course.
* Completion of validated/nationally recognised post graduate specialist/advanced level courses or equivalent.
* Evidence of relevant post-graduate training including attendance at relevant specialist courses/conferences.
* Member of relevant clinical specialist interest group.
Desirable
* MSc in relevant field.
* Involvement in special interest group.
* Registered member of the British Association of Occupational Therapy.
* NVQ Assessor.
* Research methodology training.
* Completion of a postgraduate management course.
Knowledge
Essential
* Minimum of 7 years post-registration clinical experience with 5 years working at a senior level in a relevant specialist field.
* Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and treatment techniques.
* Advanced and comprehensive knowledge in relevant specialist clinical field.
* Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, College of Occupational Therapists/Health and Care Professions Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity.
