Longton Carnival and Pig Walk Parade Volunteer
Organisation: Urban Wilderness CIC
Location: Longton
Area of interest: Outdoors or Active Roles, Heritage, Culture and Arts Based Roles, Supporting Adults, Supporting Children and Young People
Description:
Once again Urban Wilderness is bringing fun, colour, music and entertainment to Longton town centre with the Longton Carnival and Pig Walk Parade on Sunday 6 April 2025. Set to be bigger, brighter and blooming with spring flowers, we need a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help make the event a huge success.
On the day, volunteer roles will include parade stewards, support for performances, artists, and workshops. We will match your skills and experience with a variety of roles including:
1. Event Stewards - Our friendly team of Event Stewards share event information, give directions and manage groups of people.
2. Parade Stewards - Parade Stewards enjoy being at the heart of the Parade, smiling and dancing alongside our performers.
3. Site Dressing Team - Our events depend on trusted Site Dressing volunteer teams who are up early to decorate the streets and stay late to clear away.
We’ll provide snacks, brews, lunch, and a unique Pig Walk 2025 T-shirt!
Please register your interest here for a volunteer training session on Saturday 29 March where we’ll provide all the information for volunteering on the day of Carnival.
We’re also preparing ahead of the day, making costumes and props with our Creative Volunteers. Regular drop-in sessions take place on Wednesday mornings in term time from 10am – 12pm. Evening Creative Volunteers run every two weeks on Fridays, 7-9pm from 7 February. All welcome!
