An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 6 Dietitian to work within the acute team at The Cumberland Infirmary, North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The post-holder will work within the Renal multi-disciplinary teams providing a clinical service to patients across North Cumbria. There will be opportunities for service improvement within the speciality.
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent communication and team working skills. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and providing dietary care to patients with chronic kidney disease. In addition to clinical work, you would be expected to provide nutritional education to other health care professionals.
Supporting the professional development of the band 5 Dietitians and Dietetic Apprentices within the department by providing supervision sessions and learning opportunities as required.
Professional development is given a high priority and there are ongoing educational opportunities as well as practice supervision. The department trains student dietitians on P1, P2 and P3 placements from universities across the North of England. IT and secretarial support is available.
You will join an established team of 19 dietitians and 2 dietetic assistants (acute, community & paediatrics).
Main duties of the job
To provide a professional Nutrition and Dietetic service to patients under the care of the Renal MDT across North Cumbria. This includes advice to in-patients, out-patients, all healthcare staff and participation in the training of student dietitians. The service is based within the Cumberland Infirmary but includes cross-site cover to the West Cumberland Hospital Haemodialysis Unit.
Act as a source of expertise to Healthcare Professionals, Dietitians and others in the nutritional and dietetic management of Chronic Kidney Disease across North Cumbria.
Contribute to the development of the service as an active member of the Renal MDT and dietetic team providing a service to North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust.
The department provides routine services Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm, this is under review to potentially extend to 7 day service.
