Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor - Energy from Waste (EfW) New Build Project
Location: Glasgow
PAYE Pay Rate:£500-550 per day
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee and coordinate the mechanical installation and construction activities for a new build Energy from Waste (EfW) project. The successful candidate will ensure that all mechanical works are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Coordination:
* Lead and manage a team of mechanical technicians, contractors, and subcontractors.
* Coordinate mechanical installation activities, including the assembly and erection of machinery, piping systems, and other mechanical components.
* Ensure all mechanical works are executed according to project schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
* Liaise with other supervisors, engineers, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and project integration.
Safety and Compliance:
* Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on-site, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Conduct regular safety briefings, toolbox talks, and inspections.
* Ensure all mechanical work adheres to relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including mechanical and pressure equipment directives.
Quality Assurance:
* Monitor and inspect the quality of mechanical installations, ensuring they meet project specifications and industry standards.
* Manage the testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring proper operation and performance.
* Address and resolve any mechanical issues or defects that arise during construction.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of all mechanical work, including daily progress reports, inspection records, and safety documentation.
* Report on project progress, potential delays, and any issues to the Project Manager.
* Ensure all necessary documentation is completed for mechanical handover and commissioning.
Resource Management:
* Plan and manage the allocation of resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
* Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
* Optimise resource utilisation to minimise waste and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Experience:
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, preferably in the Energy from Waste (EfW) or similar heavy industrial sectors (e.g., power plants, chemical plants).
* Strong background in mechanical installation, commissioning, and supervision on large-scale construction projects.
* Familiarity with EfW technology, including boilers, turbines, flue gas treatment systems, and associated mechanical systems.
Skills:
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent understanding of mechanical systems and installation techniques.
* Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
