Job summary We are seeking a talented and knowledgeable 2D Animation Specialist to deliver Moving Image Lab sessions for students enrolled in the MA Visual Communication and Graduate Diploma Visual Communication pathways. The successful candidate will bring a deep understanding of 2D animation techniques, the animation industry, and interdisciplinary contexts in visual storytelling. Teaching experience at the Master s level is desirable, but passion for the subject, industry insights, and a commitment to helping students achieve their creative potential are essential. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Moving Image Lab sessions, introducing students to industry-standard 2D animation techniques and tools. Guide students in developing skills in narrative and non-narrative visual storytelling, with attention to interdisciplinary applications and contemporary industry trends. Provide constructive feedback on students work, helping them refine their technical abilities and conceptual approaches. Foster a studio environment conducive to creative exploration, critical thinking, and experimentation with animation techniques. Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment of Moving Image Lab sessions with course learning objectives and project briefs. Stay updated on developments in the animation industry to incorporate relevant trends, tools, and practices into lab sessions. Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in 2D animation tools and techniques, with experience in industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Animate, After Effects). Knowledge & Industry Awareness: Strong understanding of the animation industry, including emerging trends and interdisciplinary academic contexts in animation and visual storytelling. Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching at Master s level is highly desirable, especially in visual communication or related fields. Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to clearly communicate concepts and inspire students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Preferred Master s degree in Animation, Visual Communication, or a related field. A professional portfolio demonstrating a range of 2D animation work, with an emphasis on visual storytelling.
