The Best Interest Assessment team is a highly functional team consisting of experienced Best Interests Assessors, Senior Practitioners, Team Manager, and an Authoriser.
The team operates within the parameters and jurisdictions of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) to ensure people who cannot consent to their care arrangements in a care home or hospital are protected if those arrangements deprive them of their liberty.
Arrangements are assessed to check they are necessary and in the person’s best interests. You will be required to implement a culture of ensuring autonomous, independent, and defensible decision making is always practised.
The successful post holder will be motivated to achieve excellence. They will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, be able to work at pace, and write evidence-based succinct DoLS assessments and reports.
