Job Description for Early Careers Advisor - Outreach:

The Early Careers Advisor for Outreach will:
* Be the main point of contact within the Early Careers Team for the operational delivery of education outreach and work with the wider EC Team to plan, deliver, track, and measure the annual programme of outreach activity with educational establishments (schools, colleges, and universities), organisations such as The Centre for Leadership Performance and other public events/platforms.
* Act as an ambassador for this inspiring business - excited about NNL, our industry and our role in shaping the future of nuclear science to benefit society. Education outreach enables us to promote careers within the nuclear industry and further both ED&I and social mobility.
* Project manage and deliver on non-recurring activity to set-up better control and coordination of outreach activity across NNL with the support of the Early Careers Manager. A paper documenting several recommendations to improve the strategic alignment, delivery and funding of outreach was presented to the ELT on the 27th of June 2023.
* Ensure with the Head of Early Careers that all outreach activity complies with the NNL Safeguarding Policy.

This role will be offered as a two-year secondment or permanent (depending on the successful candidate) as delivery within the role requires the successful candidate to build rapport with several business stakeholders.
The location for this role is flexible and can be based at Preston, Risley, Workington or Sellafield.
Main Responsibilities for Early Careers Advisor - Outreach:
* Plan, deliver, track, and measure the impact of the annual Early Careers programme of education outreach activity e.g., Dream Placement, Bright Stars, work experience, school visits and careers fairs to ensure that they showcase NNL, the nuclear sector, STEM careers and we measure the impact of our investment.
* NNL has partnered with STEM Learning to provide the necessary oversight and governance for our STEM ambassadors. This role will manage the relationship with STEM Learning and our NNL STEM ambassadors.
* Develop, collate, and report on monthly outreach KPIs with the wider business so that the business can demonstrate and measure contribution as part of our ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility.
* There is an increasing focus on CSR in our bids and this role will manage the Early Careers CSR activity on successful bids to ensure that we deliver on the Early Careers work packages and specifically the delivery of employability skills sessions.
* Ensure with the Head of Early Careers that all outreach activities comply with the NNL Safeguarding Policy.
* The role will, with support from the Head of Early Careers and business stakeholders, deliver on the following key strategic objectives that will assist in greater control and coordination of NNL outreach activity:
* Agree strategic priorities for our outreach activity and develop some funding principles and impact measures.
* Allocate a budget to fund NNL’s outreach activities.
* Create an NNL Outreach Policy and discharge a communication plan so that all NNL staff are aware of the policy and guidance and how they can participate.
* Mature and launch the SharePoint repository for outreach resources that has been developed by the 2021 graduates.
* Establishing an Outreach Community of Practice.
Essential Criteria for Early Careers Advisor - Outreach:
* Great interpersonal skills - ability to work on own or as part of a team and to seek advice when required.
* Able to interact credibly and professionally with internal and external customers / stakeholders.
* Experience working with young people inside or outside of work.
* Strong planning, prioritizing and programme management skills.
* Strong collaboration skills with evidence of delivering projects drawing on expertise from across NNL.
* A demonstrable passion for NNL, education outreach, the nuclear sector and STEM.
* Utilises all available resources and tools to investigate and resolve problems and ensure the most appropriate solution is identified in a safe and timely manner.
* Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years’ worth of UK residency).
Desirable Criteria for Early Careers Advisor - Outreach:
* CIPD qualification or equivalent and professional membership.
* Good knowledge of the education system in England.
