Croydon Borough Council is looking for a Head of Housing Management to join their team for 6 months, with the option to go permanent if both parties are happy with this.
As a member of the extended management team, the Head of Housing Management will work collaboratively across their department and with other Heads of Service and directors to ensure the effective and efficient development and delivery of council services that support departmental and council objectives.
Responsible for the design and delivery of housing management services for the residents of Croydon, which includes anti-social behaviour, tenancy sustainment, tenancy checks, and environmental improvements.
Knowledge of and experience in the regulatory environment governing social housing is required.
Ensure the provision of consistent and high-quality services to customers by leading and motivating managers and their teams and embedding a culture of excellent customer service that delivers great community outcomes at real value.
Undertake the role of strategic lead, including associated policies and procedures in relation to housing management and support services.
Key Deliverables:
1. Plan and ensure service delivery within a complex/diverse service area, controlling operational activities and ensuring professional standards are delivered.
2. Manage external inspections effectively.
3. Manage responses to complex professional or politically sensitive issues within the area of responsibility.
4. Develop service plans to meet strategic business goals and ensure compliance with all internal and external standards.
5. Lead, motivate and develop staff to create and maintain a highly competent and participative workforce.
6. Identify, secure, deploy and manage the resources necessary for the service area to meet or exceed its objectives.
7. Implement a risk management programme and advise on issues affecting Council service areas.
8. Ensure the successful implementation of health and safety legislation, policies, and practices.
