Entity: Finance Job Family Group: Finance Group Job Description: Role synopsis This role sits within the small Subsurface Performance team which provides performance management insights to the Subsurface LT. This role will have a particular focus on hydrocarbon resource progression, and will require working closely with the reserves team, subsurface portfolio team, all regional teams as well as the exploration and discovered resources organisations to maintain a view of future expectations to inform the Subsurface and P&O LT and influence decision making. The Subsurface Performance team sits within the Performance Management organisation in Finance and this role would provide the opportunity to build knowledge and skillsets in aspects of Finance including business planning. This role is open to subsurface practitioners with resource progression experience based in any location globally. Key accountabilities Likely to include: Lead data analysis and strategic insight generation on subsurface topics including resource progression to support key partners including the subsurface leadership team Partner with the subsurface Portfolio team to provide input to longer term planning and strategic decision making Support and improve the QPF (Quarterly Performance Forecast) process with a focus on resource progression Partner with ADMs (Area Development Managers), TRLs (Technical Resource Leads) and business performance teams to improve the quality of the resource progression forecast Maintain analytical dashboards to get insights on production, capex and resource progression Develop and publish standardised and automated management information (MI) reporting products such as reports, dashboards, applications etc. Partner with key subsurface collaborators to measure performance metrics and generate insights for the quarterly subsurface scorecard Generate performance material for quarterly group and P&O level performance reviews Essential Experience and Job Requirements Technical Solid experience in subsurface Experience in applying DRM (Discovered Resources Management) policy and experience in resource progression Excellent data analysis and interrogation skills, including use of PowerBI and Excel Ability to develop key insights from sophisticated, incomplete data and for complex, not well-defined requests in support of executive decision-making Inquisitive and curious approach and desire to understand the activities that subsurface deliver Track record of proposing innovative approaches and ways of working to improve processes and systems/tools Behavioural Consistent track record of working under pressure to deliver in challenging timeframes Good interpersonal and networking skills (across multiple teams) and ability to work across technical and financial data Ability to build positive relationships, to work and to communicate effectively Desirable Criteria Experience of any of the following would be beneficial in the role: Management reporting and visualisation e.g. development and delivering regular operational or business reports Business insight: understanding business operations and the commercial landscape, financial fundamentals and external market factors impacting opportunities and their value Working technical knowledge of other bp enablers beyond subsurface (e.g. wells, production, projects, finance, HSE&C, I&E) Planning: improving translation of business strategy into coherent action plans with clear milestones and performance indicators Advanced data analytics: implementing sophisticated data analytics, data science, statistical modelling and new technologies, such as machine learning and AI as well as other big data capabilities Scenario modelling: producing abstract or distilled representations of situations to aid the communication and understanding of existing, conceptual, or proposed scenarios and alternatives Benchmarking: incorporating benchmarking and market intelligence into standard products, insights and recommendations Travel requirement: Up to 10% travel may be required for this role.
