We are proud to have a workforce with values that promote human rights, social justice and professional integrity. We recognise the importance of diversity within our organisation that reflects the communities we serve.
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for two individuals to join our small and experienced Intensive Family Support team. This team works intensively alongside families and other professionals for a short period of time, to empower families to overcome crisis and increase family stability.
The team plays a key role in Falkirk’s delivery of The Promise and Closer to Home Strategy, providing support to:
* Help families stay together and prevent a child from becoming looked after away from home.
* Help a child safely return to their family's care.
* Contribute towards Parenting Capacity Assessments alongside social work colleagues.
A strength-based approach is essential in working alongside families to identify solutions in respect of their family life. Therefore, experience of supporting families in overcoming challenges with family relationships and routines, the impact of domestic abuse, emotional wellbeing, and school attendance is desirable. An ability to work flexibly and creatively is required to provide tailored support to individual family needs.
You will use the Outcome Star model to undertake assessment of need, helping families to identify and overcome the wider factors impacting on family stability. You will be required to work closely with key partners across social work and education to support the child’s attainment and the development of stronger family support networks. Strong communication skills and experience of working collaboratively with partners is essential.
Two temporary 18.5 hour posts have been created until June 2026 to support Children’s Services in its ongoing work to improve outcomes for children and families in the local area. You will be expected to work variable hours between Thursday and Tuesday on a three-weekly rotational basis. Supervision and support will be provided on a regular basis. You will be required to show commitment to your continuous development.
We promote a culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work. This supports our mission to be recognised as a learning organisation promoting openness, creativity, and experimentation across the workforce.
We work hard to develop our staff and expose them to a wide range of opportunities. We encourage our workforce to acquire and share knowledge, information, and resources. We nurture innovation, including service co-design that’s shaped by lived experiences, and we provide freedom to try new things, to risk failure and to learn from both mistakes and promising and good practice.
We are proud to offer:
* Supportive team structure
* Time for reflective supervision
* A culture where your voice matters and opportunities are available to shape how we work together as a team, service and across the Council and partnerships.
* Bespoke training and a range of career development opportunities
* Generous annual leave and mobile/flexible working supporting work-life balance.
* Local Government pension scheme and employee benefits and rewards scheme.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
