A vacancy has arisen for a Principal Psychologist to work as part of a dynamic psychology team based at Llanarth Court Hospital.
The Hospital has seven wards and cares for Forensic patients with a range of mental health needs. Our Psychologists work alongside colleagues from Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, and Social Work to provide high-quality care.
We are looking for a Principal Psychologist who is experienced in assessment and formulation to help determine the treatment needs of individual service users. Responsibilities include:
1. Supervising Trainee Forensic Psychologists, Psychological Assistants, and placement students.
2. Providing training to staff and running reflective practice.
3. Writing risk assessments and providing individual and group interventions to meet the needs of the service.
4. Consultation and advice to professional staff from other disciplines.
5. Contributing to the development of evidence-based practices, strategies, and policies as requested by the Head of Psychology.
6. Leading the ongoing development, co-ordination, and governance of therapeutic activities and groups.
7. Supporting the measurement of the quality of the Psychological provision.
We are looking for someone with leadership qualities and a compassionate approach. The successful candidate should have a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and at least two other therapeutic modalities, with at least one being suitable for working with Forensic mental health patients. Experience in working with complex clients and delivering high-level interventions is required. The successful candidate should ideally be trained and/or have delivered clinical supervision and possess some leadership/management experience. Finally, an understanding and experience in assessments suitable for the forensic population is essential.
