SEN Support Assistant – 1:1 Support (Newcastle) Location: Newcastle Position: SEN Support Assistant Contract: Part-time / Ongoing Working Hours: Monday & Friday, 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM Start Date: Immediate Salary: Competitive, based on experience Agency: Protocol Education Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil in a supportive and welcoming school in Newcastle. About the Role: Supporting a Year 1 pupil who is awaiting an EHCP. Working within a bespoke curriculum tailored to the child’s needs. Supporting a pupil displaying SEMH needs due to trauma. Implementing individualised strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement. Collaborating with teachers and SENCO to ensure the best possible learning environment. Working Mondays and Fridays, 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM, with potential for additional hours. The Ideal Candidate: Experience working with children with complex behaviour and SEMH needs. Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation strategies. A patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach. Experience working within an SEN setting or supporting children with additional needs in a mainstream school. A calm and resilient nature, with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
