We are excited to offer an opportunity for a Principal Project Assurance Engineer to join our ECRS MK2 Radar Quality Assurance Team in Edinburgh at Leonardo. You will work closely with Operations, Project Managers, Customers, Design/Development teams, and Suppliers to meet customer requirements and enhance the quality of our offerings. * Collaborate Across Teams: Work as an integral member of the ECRS MK2 Radar Quality team and the Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), ensuring the quality and success of all allocated projects throughout their lifecycle.
* Develop and Manage Assurance Plans: Lead the creation and execution of Project Assurance Plans (PAP), defining activities that address risks, opportunities, and improvements within the program. Ensure these plans are updated as project demands evolve.
* Drive Risk and Opportunity Management: Stay informed about operational and IPT risks and opportunities. Provide leadership to manage and mitigate risks while seizing opportunities to drive progress.
* Conduct Internal Assessments: Coordinate risk-based internal assessments with IPT leads, ensuring findings are addressed and resolved effectively.
* Support Decision-Making: Analyze and communicate key data to facilitate clear decision-making, ensuring that IPT requirements are escalated and understood by all stakeholders.
* Manage Non-Conformance and Failure: Take a leadership role in managing non-conformance and failure situations, working with both internal teams and the external supply chain to ensure timely and reliable closure.
* Provide Guidance and Mentorship: Offer expert guidance to the Assurance Team to meet program and IPT objectives. Mentor junior team members to foster a culture of quality excellence across the team.
* Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Play an active role in the ongoing improvement of assurance functions across all phases of the program, product, and project lifecycle.
* Reporting and Data Support: Provide regular reports and data to the Project Assurance Manager, Quality Manager, and Project Managers, ensuring transparency and alignment with project goals.
Educational Background: Ideally, you hold a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or have substantial experience in Defence, Electronics, or similarly complex industries.
* Quality Assurance Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of Governance, AS9100, ISO9001, and continuous improvement practices.
* Development and Design Assurance: Strong understanding of providing assurance support during the development and design stages of the product lifecycle.
* Quality Tools Expertise: Proficiency in applying quality tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification, Validation, and First Article Inspection.
* Problem-Solving Skills: A logical, data-driven thinker who can translate complex information into actionable solutions that align with business objectives.
* Interpersonal and Collaborative Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Time Management: Effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and escalate issues when necessary.
* Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in working with diverse stakeholders to achieve project and business goals.
* Team Leadership: Experience working within high-performing quality teams, with a focus on driving team excellence and growth.
