Responsibilities
1. Lead the commissioning of mechanical fluid systems including but not limited to hydraulics, fuel systems, compressed air, fuel oil, and ventilation systems on defense marine vessels.
2. Perform detailed testing and validation to ensure all systems meet required performance and safety standards, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
3. Analyze system performance and optimize operational efficiency during the commissioning phase.
4. Prepare detailed commissioning and test reports, technical documentation, and performance records for stakeholders.
5. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues that arise during testing or operation. Implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with standards and operational requirements.
6. Ensure all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with marine and defense industry standards, including safety regulations and environmental requirements.
7. Liaison: Collaborate closely with design teams, construction teams, and operations to ensure smooth handover and integration of systems.
8. Act as a technical point of contact for clients during the commissioning phase, providing clear communication on progress, issues, and solutions.
9. Support training for operational staff on the proper use, maintenance, and operation of commissioned systems.
10. Conduct inspections and quality control assessments to ensure systems meet all applicable standards, including military and naval specifications.
11. Provide feedback on design and construction processes, contributing to the continuous improvement of marine systems for future projects.
Qualifications
12. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
13. Certifications in relevant fields such as hydraulic systems, fuel systems, or marine engineering are a plus.
Essential skills
14. Strong knowledge of marine mechanical fluid systems, including hydraulic, fuel, air, fuel oil, and ventilation systems.
15. Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in high-pressure environments.
16. Meticulous attention to detail in testing, validation, and reporting.
17. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
18. Effective team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments, as well as independently.
19. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple commissioning projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
Experience
20. 5+ years of experience in marine commissioning or maintenance, particularly in defense/naval projects.
21. Familiarity with military standards for mechanical systems in defense vessels (., DEF STAN, MIL-SPEC).
22. Knowledge of commissioning tools, CAD software, and marine-specific diagnostics.
23. Ability to work in shipyard environments and aboard vessels, sometimes in confined spaces or at height.
