The Role & Key Responsibilities
Do you have an enquiring mind and an attention to detail? Do you enjoy making connections between pieces of information and thinking laterally? Would you like to be part of a unit that assists in the investigation of crime and safeguarding members of the public?
Based within Information Management at Headquarters, with the option for some agile working, you will be primarily responsible for performing Police National Computer (PNC) and local system enquiries, and the creation and quality maintenance of records held on PNC. Your duties will also involve performing standard and advanced searches, in response to major and local enquiries from within the Force and outside agencies. You will also help co-ordinate the receipt, response and transmission of information within the Force and to outside agencies, ensuring that all enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Skills & Experience
You will have accurate keyboard skills, be very computer literate with experience of SharePoint and Windows 10 applications and able to learn new systems quickly. In addition, you will possess good written and verbal communication skills including report writing, and enjoy working as part of a team.
The core of the work involves checking systems, assessing data and making judgements based on your findings.
It is essential that candidates appreciate the confidentiality surrounding this role, especially in matters relating to personal data and other sensitive material.
It is also essential that the post-holder is able to work a 3 shift system over Monday – Friday covering patterns within 0700-2300, for which an allowance is paid.
Our team is based at Surrey Police Headquarters in Guildford, although there will also be some opportunity with this role to work agilely, depending on your circumstances.
