The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Project Control Engineer to join the Energy Unit within the Nuclear, Civil, and Defence division. This is a project control engineering role to support the project management function in the successful delivery of projects within the Nuclear sector, offering the opportunity to partner with multi-discipline teams and support project delivery safely and effectively in line with company procedures. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional to contribute to high-profile projects while advancing your career within a supportive and successful team.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain accurate and timely cost schedules from source data with minimal supervision.
* Interpret stakeholder requirements and provide tailored cost information.
* Apply advanced problem-solving techniques using standard tools to produce high-quality outputs.
* Deliver cost engineering activities, including estimating, change control, and planning support, independently.
* Collect, analyse, and challenge data to create accurate estimate-at-completion (EAC) forecasts.
* Prepare progress reports with earned value analysis, identifying critical areas and trends.
* Explain project variances, propose mitigation options, and support recovery scenarios with stakeholders.
* Manage personal workload and oversee subordinates to ensure adherence to deadlines.
* Partner with project and engineering managers to support overall project delivery.
* Coordinate with other project disciplines to ensure alignment.
* Build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in cost/project control, developing detailed cost schedules and EAC forecasts.
* Proven leadership abilities, including mentoring junior team members and developing processes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in mathematics or a science-related field.
* Progress towards or achievement of accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g., ACostE).
