An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Service for the West Midlands. We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Principal Treatment Centre Team at the QEHB as a secondment or fixed term for 12-18 months.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellence in clinical care for Teenagers and Young Adults (aged 16 -- 24) with cancer and their families.
Based on the Teenage Cancer Trust Young Persons Unit, you will play a key role in providing quality TYA patient care in line with Peer review measures. Working across the hospital and site specific teams and with the existing Band 7 TYA CNS team, you will support delivery of age appropriate care, whilst also promoting the philosophy and ethos of Teenage Cancer Trust, in line with the charity's strategic vision for Nursing.
The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise when identifying and caring for the specific needs of TYA patients and their carers. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, TYA nursing experience, knowledge of TYA cancers and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams. By working alongside the TYA team and Site Specific Teams you will promote a cohesive approach to TYA care.
Main duties of the job
You will be supported by the Band 7 Teenage Cancer Trust CNS team, West Mids Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse, the TYA MDT based at QEHB and the wider regional Band 7 Nurses.
This post is funded by Teenage Cancer Trust. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity providing funding for specialist healthcare professionals who care and support teenagers and young adults with cancer. The successful post holder will link into a national network of funded TYA cancer professionals, be able to access a range of learning and professional development opportunities, be involved in the work of Teenage Cancer Trust and link to other national and international professional bodies.

* *Registered Nurse on the NMC Register. (E)
* *BSC / 1ST degree (health related) or equivalent qualification / training or experience (E)
* *Professional knowledge acquired at degree level with be supplemented by specialist training, experience and short courses to degree / masters level equivalent (E)
* *Post registration qualification in (appropriate area of speciality) (E)
* *Recognised mentorship course (E)

* *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC (E)
* *Significant experience at Band 5 Staff Nurse with evidence of passion/ enthusiasm and knowledge for areas of specialist practice (E)
