About the Role
Staffline Recruitment Ireland is seeking Public Prosecutors to join the Northern Ireland Civil Service. This role is ideal for experienced legal professionals looking to make a meaningful impact within the criminal justice system. The successful candidates will play a key role in the prosecution of serious and indictable offences across Northern Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess files submitted by police and government departments, providing legal advice on prosecution decisions.
* Prepare and direct prosecution papers, charges, and evidence in line with legal requirements.
* Prosecute cases in Magistrates’ Courts and, on occasion, in the County Court.
* Provide pre-prosecutorial advice and liaise with key stakeholders, including victims, witnesses, counsel, and police.
* Prepare committal papers for indictable cases as required.
Essential Criteria
* Qualified Barrister or Solicitor, entitled to practise in Northern Ireland.
* At least one year of post-qualification advocacy experience in criminal cases, gained within the last six years in a Magistrates’ Court.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in Criminal Law.
