About the School
Bank View is a special school for students with autism/complex/severe learning difficulties. We are based over 3 sites in Liverpool; Fazakerley, Croxteth and Speke. We are a successful and expanding school, currently looking to appoint a number of dynamic, outstanding SEN secondary teachers to teach in different subject areas. The posts will be based at our Speke site, which is increasing to 600 students on roll in September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and talented staff team as we continue to grow, including the opening of our third site in the south of the city. The successful candidates will be energetic, creative and highly motivated teachers, with the skills and knowledge to adapt the secondary national curriculum to meet the needs of our students. They will have excellent subject knowledge and the ability to form strong, positive relationships with students and staff. Bank View is part of the HEARTS project which seeks to achieve better outcomes for our students and their families and enhance the lives of communities across Liverpool. As a school, we are passionate about working with other professionals to address the critical issues of attachment and trauma for the benefit of our whole learning community.
You will have high expectations and be committed to helping pupils to become confident, secure and happy learners. In September 2024, OFSTED rated us “Outstanding” in all areas, describing Bank View as “an exceptional school where pupils achieve their dreams and ambitions.”
We are also proud to hold the National Autistic Society’s charter mark, along with several other prestigious quality marks, including OPAL Platinum School status, the Gold Reading Quality Mark, and the Silver Rights Respecting Schools Award, with progress toward Gold.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment to keeping children safe. Any offer of employment will be subject to statutory pre-employment checks including satisfactory references and Enhanced DBS and Barred List checks. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (as amended in 2013 & 2020) and shortlisted candidates will be required to disclose any relevant criminal history before interview.
Experience of working within an SEN setting is desirable but not essential.
Subject specialisms in English, Mathematics, Science, Citizenship/PSHE, PE, Design Technology (Textiles, Food, Construction & Graphics) and Humanities would be an advantage.
The successful candidates will also be expected to implement strategies within the school in support of the school’s development plan.
We would welcome visits from prospective candidates. Please email recruitment@bankview.liverpool.sch.uk to arrange a time to visit.
