What is the opportunity?
We are looking to hire a Commodity Derivative Structurer within the Macro Investor Structuring Team based in London. This would be a new hire with a dedicated commodity knowledge to help support our European and global commodity investor ambitions (ex QIS).
What will you do?
* Design and market Commodities products and solutions for RBC's institutional and distribution account base.
* Provide fast and accurate pricing of the whole range of commodity products.
* Work closely with the Commodity trading to facilitate execution of structured MTN Notes and prudent product generation ideas with clear communication.
* Collaborate with other macro trading desks to structure products and solutions for Institutional and Corporate clients.
* Act with rigor, high critical thinking, and team spirit.
* Focus on global distribution, with particular emphasis on UK regions, Switzerland, North America, and APAC.
* Support the Commodity Structured Notes business in EMEA, APAC, and North America (across all commodities, including Oil, Precious, Carbon, etc.).
* Support Commodity trading in derivative projects/pricing.
* Assist Private Side for pricing when required.
* Drive content creation, innovation, and product development for our Distribution business globally.
* Provide secondary support for FX, SRT & RPK within the Macro Investor Team.
Trade idea generation / Product innovation
Market intelligence: geographic activity monitoring of product popularity. Identify, analyze, and pursue Commodity, Rates & FX related business opportunities (e.g., creation of a specific tool, new product, or structure). Utilize economic research reports: collect and incorporate economic rationale into product offerings. Organize and circulate deal information among sales and teammates to foster pooling of interest and ideas.
Pricing/ Structuring
Propose, design, and price Commodity, Rates, and FX structures to embed into global hedging solutions or investment products for clients. Incorporate XVAs and hurdle methodology. Perform price simulations (either historical or prospective): back-testing or forward-testing of hedging strategies. Work with quants and traders on the development of pricing tools and automation of recurring pricing requests.
Marketing
Contribute to building client pitches and product campaigns, exhibiting good knowledge of the markets. Generate attractive and comprehensive marketing documents and term sheets, including product description, benefits/risks simulations, market or economic rationale, and accounting treatment. Participate in external client meetings and advising, executing, and pitching together with the sales team.
Deal execution
Coordinate between DCM, sales, and trading. Define optimal booking with operational teams for structured solutions. Ensure documentation is accurate and exhaustive (internal documentation, term-sheet, internal tickets, legal documentation, setup of booking and alerts, and external documentation sent to clients for executed transactions). Execute transactions with market participants on behalf of issuing clients to provide agreed funding parameters and on behalf of the firm as a hedging tool.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
* Educated to a degree level or equivalent.
* A high degree of mathematical ability and capacity to price complex structures.
* Self-motivated, innovative, and adaptable.
* Significant understanding of debt products and derivatives pricing.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Excellent modeling capabilities.
* Good knowledge of financial products.
* Be a Certified person.
* Proven experience in product and transaction structuring, covering payoff, underlying, and legal structuring.
* A strong understanding and knowledge of QIS products with experience in designing, searching, and testing them.
Nice to have
* Fluency in an additional language.
* Quantitative background.
