Maintenance Operative
Location: London
Salary: £34,000 - £38,000 per annum
Z-Tech Control Systems is looking for a Maintenance Operative to join our team of problem solvers. You’ll play a crucial role in delivering essential maintenance across London’s sewage and water system network, working on a range of above and below-ground assets. Your work will involve Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and you will collaborate closely with a maintenance team to ensure activities are completed within permitted shut-off periods. Working alongside operational staff, you will share insights and contribute to finding solutions.
What does a typical day look like?
Inspect electrical and mechanical systems
Inspect oil equipment, including draining and replacing oil systems
Inspect fixed equipment, such as ladders, safety bars, grills, etc.
Use tooling and measuring equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and layouts
Operate lifting equipment and follow approved processes for transporting plant equipment
Act as part of a rescue team for confined space entry
Support reactive work in the event of breakdowns
Inspect machinery, equipment, buildings, and systems, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning
Carry out small repairs such as fixing locks, leaky taps, and broken windows
Check and maintain safety equipment, such as fire alarms, fire extinguishers, and carbon monoxide detectorsWhat’s essential?
Previous experience in carrying out maintenance work
IOSH trained
Excellent attention to detail
Strong safety and quality-driven mindset with a collaborative approach to teamwork
Full UK driver’s licenseAdvantageous:
Experience with mobile plant (FLT, MEWP)
Work at Height certification
Manual Handling qualification
Confined Space Entry experience
