An opportunity has arisen to join Kent Police and Essex Police Serious Crime Directorate Forensic Services team as a Fingerprint Examiner based at Laindon. (This role is currently based at Essex Police Headquarters, Chelmsford but will soon be moving to a newly refurbished office in Laindon, Essex).
In this role you will analyse, search and compare fingerprints in all case types, maximizing identifications and supplying expert advice in order to support the investigation and detection of crime. You will be required to utilise automated and manual methods of searching and comparison, adhering to local and national procedures.
We are currently looking for applicants that are fully or part qualified fingerprint examiners. Starting salary will be dependent on experience and in line with our career progression plan. Aptitude for the role will be tested as part of the interview process.
At shortlisting we will be looking for evidence of:
* Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
* Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
* Communication and Report Writing Skills
* Good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent
* Completion of Foundation, intermediate or Advanced level Fingerprint comparison course or equivalent
* Experience of working to a standard operating procedure
* Experience working in an ISO17025 accredited environment
Location and Hours:
Laindon, Essex - a short walk from the train station. Parking is available on site, along with a rest area and nearby local amenities.
The Fingerprint Hub works a fixed shift pattern providing a service from 0700-2000 Monday to Friday and 0800-1600 Saturday and Sunday.

Essex Police offer incremental increases within this salary band, therefore the salary for this position will rise to a maximum of £45,591.00.
