About The Role The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities within the food and beverage production facility. The role focuses on optimizing machine uptime, improving efficiency, and ensuring that maintenance activities comply with safety, food, and environmental standards. The planner will also manage resources, spare parts, and collaborate with production teams to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, the role includes reviewing and prioritizing new work requests, defect notifications, and maintaining comprehensive KPI reporting. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance Scheduling and Planning : Develop and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for all plant equipment and facilities. Ensure that all maintenance tasks are prioritized effectively to minimize downtime and production disruption. Collaborate with the production team to align maintenance schedules with production needs and prevent conflicts. Review and Prioritize Work Requests and Defect Notifications : Assess incoming work requests and defect notifications to prioritize tasks based on urgency and equipment criticality. Ensure that corrective and preventive maintenance work is scheduled efficiently to maintain high production uptime. Collaboration with Production Teams : Work closely with short-term and long-term production planning teams to ensure maintenance schedules are synchronized with production activities. Schedule maintenance work during planned downtime or low-production periods to minimize impact on operations. Resource Management : Coordinate the allocation of resources, such as labour, contractors, and tools, for scheduled maintenance tasks. Ensure that all resources are appropriately managed and available for maintenance work. Compliance and Safety : Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental standards, including HACCP, BRC, and other relevant regulations. Stay informed about relevant legislation and industry standards, ensuring that all maintenance practices are in line with legal requirements. Participate in audits and inspections to verify compliance with safety and operational standards. Work Order Tracking and Reporting : Track the progress of maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion and document work details, including labour hours, downtime, and parts used. Generate reports that track key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, cost, and resource utilization. KPI Reporting : Track and report on KPIs related to equipment uptime, maintenance costs, and efficiency in resource usage. Regularly assess maintenance performance and provide management with insights and recommendations based on KPI data. Identify trends in maintenance data to pinpoint areas for improvement. Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement : Analyse historical maintenance data to detect recurring issues and recommend corrective actions. Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdowns and implement corrective measures to reduce downtime. Continuously improve maintenance processes to enhance productivity and equipment reliability. Cross-functional Collaboration : Coordinate with the engineering, procurement, and operations teams to ensure that maintenance plans align with operational needs and that adequate resources are in place. Foster strong communication with production teams to ensure minimal disruption during maintenance activities. About You QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFIC TRAINING • HNC/HND in Automation, Electrical Engineering or related field. EXPERIENCE • Experience in maintenance planning within a manufacturing or food and beverage production environment. • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) such as SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms. • Understanding of food production processes and associated safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, BRC). KNOWLEDGE • Understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP) and industry best practices. • Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and legislation. • In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems. • Excellent knowledge with Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities and work orders. • Excellent knowledge of production processes. • Knowledge of effective and efficient planning. • Knowledge of KPI adherence and reporting. SKILLS • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments. • Ability to troubleshoot and manage maintenance delays, resource shortages, and spare part management. • Excellent computer skills specifically Microsoft Office.
