This is an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join a busy team in the Defendant Insurance space. On-going training and mentorship will be provided, including supervised legal practice if required for those lawyers with less than 2 years post admission experience. Lawyers with up to 3 years experience will be highly regarded.
You will have a genuine interest in providing legal advice, support and assistance in managing historical claims of institutional abuse throughout Australia.
You must have experience in dispute resolution and civil litigation for this role. Experience dealing with institutional abuse law will be highly regarded.
Key Responsibilities:
* liaise with key stakeholders including insurers & law firms
* prepare briefing advice and files for mediation and settlement conferences
* prepare Deeds of Release and settlement documents
* attend settlement conferences
* maintain files
* provide regular reports on cases to the Executive Director
About You:
* 1-4 years' PAE in insurance or litigation
* Can have plaintiff or defendant experience (this is a defendant role)
* A desire to be an integral member of a strong, cohesive and down to earth team
* Ability to manage deadlines
* Strong attention to detail
* Practical and client-focused problem solving and research skills
* Ability to relate to people at all levels and effectively work in a team
