We have a current opportunity for a Financial Controller to join our clients team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The Financial Controller will provide a vital role in supporting the Head of Finance in running the Finance department, ensuring financial processes are efficient, compliant, and continuously improving. This role is key in maintaining high financial standards while developing systems and processes to enhance overall performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage, support and develop the finance team
Develop and maintain the finance standard operating procedures and internal controls
Work with the Leadership Team and department heads to create, maintain and report on key financial (and non-financial) indicators
Oversee the update and maintenance of standard costs
Manage accounting software and integration with other systems
Oversee processing of routine transactional data, including: Sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, petty cash, accruals, prepayment and other standard journals, control bank accounts and manage payments and receipts.
Maintain operational cashflow forecast
Review and present weekly finance reports
Prepare and maintain a full set of balance sheet and P&L monthly reconciliations
Prepare and report monthly management accounts
Prepare external reports for bank and other stakeholders
Prepare trend and variance analysis and provide detail to budget holder
Prepare year end accounts and audit schedules
Work with the Leadership Team to help build the annual Business Plan and any supplementary forecasts
Prepare and submit all statutory returns, including: HMRC Vat returns, HMRC PAYE and National Insurance, Office of National Statistics
Manage relationship with bank, auditors and other key stakeholders
Build and maintain strong links with the Leadership Team and departmental heads
Deputise for the Head of Finance and represent finance at cross functional meetings when required
Work collaboratively with other group companies, as required
Other typical finance responsibilities linked to good corporate governance
Skills and Experience:
Professional Accountancy Qualification – CA, ACCA, CIMA or similar
Strong accounting expertise with a solid understanding of financial principles
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in an industry setting
Proven experience in a managerial role within a successful finance team
