Financial Controller The Financial Controller is a senior leadership position responsible for leading the operational finance team, managing the financial operations within the organisation and ensuring the integrity, accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting. You will have demonstrable skills, leading a team to ensure the provision and continuous improvement of our financial services to the Malvern College family of Schools, whilst ensuring effective and supportive relationships with colleagues. You will be accountable for: • Managing day-to-day operations of the finance department including fees, purchase ledger, payroll, treasury management and VAT returns. • Responsible for day to day internal controls and financial processes (including month end) ensuring efficiency, accuracy and compliance. • Responsible for financial reporting, managing the external audit and compliance with accounting standards. You'll have: • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA or equivalent qualification. • Significant experience in financial control or financial management, ideally within the education, charity or non-profit sector. • Strong knowledge of relevant financial regulations and reporting (e.g., Charities SORP, VAT, gift aid). • Experience with financial systems and financial reporting tools (including advance proficiency in Excel). • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead a team effectively. • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities. • A collaborative mindset with a commitment to transparency, integrity and accountability. • High level of integrity and professionalism.
