71 Brewing has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and passionate brewer to join one of the fastest growing craft breweries in Scotland. We are looking for someone to become part of an amazing team of professionals and be fully involved in all elements of the brewing lifecycle.
Based in the characterful surroundings of the old Blackness Ironworks in central Dundee you will be working with our state of the art 30Hl SK Brewplant, over 900Hl of fermentation capacity, onsite canning and kegging capabilities and extensive pilot system.
We offer a welcoming environment for candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills as you will be working closely with all other teams at 71 Brewing, especially the packaging, sales and warehouse teams.
PREREQUISITES:
* 1+ years commercial brewing experience
* UK work authorization is required
PREFERRED
* Internationally recognised brewing qualification and/or science degree.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Production of wort in line with 71 SOPs
* Cold side tasks including tank cleaning, dry-hopping, transfers, filtration using centrifuge and cartridge filter, quality checks, sensory analysis.
* Working under the direction of our Head Brewer and Operations Manager
* Maintaining a meticulous standard of data logging and record keeping through our brewery production software.
* Getting involved in the creative process for style selection & recipe development.
* Working to brewery deadlines to ensure that the beer can be released in line with the business needs
* Ensure the cleanliness, efficiency and functionality of brewery equipment
* Maintain high standards of health and safety
* Ensure to work in a way which minimizes wastage and excess cost without compromising product quality
DEVELOPMENT
* Seek out educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations
REPRESENTATION
* Attend and contribute to team meetings when required and share best practice with colleagues;
* Represent 71 Brewing at occasional exhibitions and events
OTHER
* Provide consistent and accurate updates to the Head Brewer regarding all areas of work
* Possess a positive attitude to a busy work environment and a willingness to work long or flexible hours when required
* Contribute to team effort by completing other tasks as needed.
