This is a rare opportunity to join the senior OSCCA team and shape our future service. We have an exciting opportunity to recruit to the Matron Post at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
We are looking to recruit a forward-thinking, highly motivated, compassionate, and innovative nurse leader who will champion a high level of professional standards and excellence to join our AOS directorate.
Working within the framework of the Modern Matron principles, the post holder is expected to set and monitor high standards of clinical care, provide day-to-day operational management, and support the continuous development/improvement of the service. Applicants will be required to demonstrate a passion to lead and develop clinical teams to provide the best possible patient care across all areas of responsibility.
AOS is a complex care group which provides 24-hour peri-operative care covering a range of specialties, including Spinal, Plastic & Reconstructive, Orthopaedic, Obstetric, Gynaecology, General, Vascular, Renal, ENT, Neuro, and Urology surgery.
Main duties of the job
1. Assure the highest standard of clinical care by providing leadership to the professional and direct care staff within the whole theatre complex. Ensuring that standards are monitored and maintained and where necessary taking appropriate corrective action.
2. Manage the theatre complex within sphere of responsibility including recovery areas and day surgery areas of activity.
3. Provide a visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in the departments to whom patients, relatives, and staff can turn for assistance, advice, and support.
4. Ensure perioperative practice is consistent with relevant evidence-based practice.
5. Provide visible local leadership to deliver team working and effectiveness, facilitate communication and ensure that high levels of professionalism are maintained in the perioperative service at all times.
6. Work closely to support the strategic vision for the Anaesthesia and Operating Services directorate to ensure delivery of excellence and a high-quality patient experience. Support the Directorate team in understanding the changing patterns of service demand and new service opportunities.
7. Ensure the operational delivery of the service and play a key role in supporting the development of the annual Business Plan and Objectives for the service.
8. Work closely with the Service and Operational Directors to understand demand and capacity requirements and manage the service accordingly.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse / ODP
* Significant senior clinical experience within an acute setting with operating theatres experience evident
* 1st level degree or equivalent
* To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
* Demonstrate experience in managing patient flow
* Experience of managing a complex budget
* Experience managing complex complaints
Further Training
* Insight into the national context in relation to perioperative practice
Special Skills
* Highly Motivated
* Proven leadership skills
* Ability to work under pressure
* Working knowledge of IT systems
* Proven ability to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team

Salary: £53,755 to £60,504 a year pro rata for part-time staff.
