Job summary The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow within the specialty of General Surgery / Colorectal Surgery. Our ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years in General Surgery experience in Acute Hospital services along with good theoretical knowledge and its application. You will be offered a 6 month fixed term post to support the Colorectal Straight to Test 2WW pathway. You will be a part of a dedicate team and will provide, in conjunction with colleagues, a General Surgical service at Middle Grade, to the Trust as directed by the Consultants. Main duties of the job You will undertake the triaging, selecting of patients, and supporting administration work to facilitate the Colorectal Straight to Test 2WW pathway, along with two other colleagues carrying out the same job plan. Undertake outpatient clinics seeing follow-up patients and new cases under the supervision of the Consultant. To assist in theatre with major laparoscopic and open colorectal and general surgical cases and carry out appropriate cases independently under close supervision as needed. You are expected to be on the surgical on-call rota, resident on-site, at middle-grade level 1-10 variable and may change. Undertake ward rounds with the Junior Medical Staff for the management of patients. Provide intermediate level care for emergency admissions to all surgical patients referred to the team from A&E or directly from the General Practitioner to the Surgical Assessment Unit. Undertake teaching of junior medical staff and other clinical staff as appropriate. Participate fully in post graduate activities and surgical audit.
