We are seeking to appoint a driven, motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will support the Headteacher in embedding the ethos of aspiration, success and high standards in every aspect of school life, ensuring that 'Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire' is acted upon by staff and students, and is understood by parent/carers and the wider community.
There are two possible portfolios available for this Assistant Headteacher role - 'Narrowing the Gap' and / or 'Quality of Education'. The final responsibilities for the role will be determined on the needs of the school and experience of the successful applicant. The successful candidate will lead directly, or indirectly on one, some of the following areas:
* Leading and organising a relevant, dynamic programme of in-house CPD, including: INSET days; twilights; masterclasses and CPD pathways.
* Seeking new, exciting ways of actively engaging staff at all levels in their continuing professional development and ensuring that Notley High School and Sixth Form becomes an even more outward facing school.
* Leading the Subject Review Process, including: organising each element of the review; observing lessons; conducting parent, staff and student voice; writing the final Subject Review reports and presenting these to SLT.
* Early Career Entry Teachers.
* Professional Mentor for ITT Trainees.
* Quality assuring the curriculum, teaching and assessment provided for PPG, LAC, CIC, EAL, PPG/SEN cross over students by carrying out regular learning walks, book checks and student voice activities and responding appropriately to what is seen.
* Deploying PPG and all additional funding effectively.
* Analysing external and internal data regarding the progress and attainment of PPG, LAC, CIC, EAL students: identifying trends and causes for concern for whole cohorts and individuals, putting appropriate intervention in place to address these and monitoring their effectiveness.
Notley High School is a rapidly improving 11-18 school with judgements of 'Good' in Leadership and Management, Personal Development and Sixth Form (July 2023). We are also over subscribed for the time ever in Year 7 (September '25 entry).
